On March 10, the opening ceremony of the Taihu Lake Yuantouzhu Cherry Blossom Festival was held in Budapest, Hungary. This is the first time that Yuantouzhu, known as one of the “three major cherry blossom viewing destinations in the world”, has launched a cross-border cherry blossom festival, marking a milestone step in Wuxi’s cultural and tourism internationalization strategy. The location of the opening ceremony of this cherry blossom festival in Budapest is not only a tribute to the traditional friendship between the two countries, but also highlights Wuxi’s forward-looking vision of using cherry blossoms as a medium and actively integrating with the international community. Yu Tiejun, Vice President of Wuxi Culture and Tourism Group, mentioned in his speech that the Danube River nurtures the romance of Hungary, the water of the Taihu Lake Lake nourishes the beauty of Wuxi, and the architectural treasures of Budapest and the classical gardens of Wuxi are both bright pearls of human civilization. Zhou Guozhu, Chairman of the Taihu Lake Yuantouzhu Tourism Group, introduced the 2025 the Taihu Lake Yuantouzhu Cherry Blossom Festival: Yuantouzhu will repeat the same stage and performance of this year’s Spring Festival Gala branch venue, introduce dance and instrumental music with Jiangnan characteristics, and present a poetic audio-visual feast. At the same time, it will provide exclusive discounts for overseas tourists, focus on personalized customized tourism, and strive to bring unforgettable memories to every tourist in the world. The promotion officer of Wuxi Culture and Tourism led the audience to take a boat ride in the wonderful place of the Taihu Lake Lake, visit the classical gardens, taste the elegant collection of Jiangnan, and experience the leisure and poetry of “tin life” through the live images of Jiangnan landscape.

Laszlo Nagy, President of the Hungarian National Youth Cultural and Tourism Association, stated that this cherry blossom festival spanning mountains and seas has allowed the Hungarian people to experience the profound cultural heritage of China and provided an innovative paradigm for cultural cooperation between China and Europe.

The Taihu Lake Yuantouzhu, the “three major cherry appreciation resorts in the world”, which is as famous as Hongqian Cherry Blossom Garden in Japan and Washington Cherry Blossom Garden in the United States, took advantage of the international platform this time to sign an agreement with four European travel agencies, including Otis Travel Agency, to send tourists to each other, and hired four overseas recommenders to serve as “Wuxi Cultural Tourism Overseas Promotion Ambassadors”.

This series of measures not only opens up a two-way channel for tourism between China and Europe, but also promotes the value upgrade of global cherry blossom culture IP through resource integration and brand linkage. Zhou Guozhu, Chairman of the Taihu Lake Yuantouzhu Tourism Group in Wuxi, expects to build a transnational spring tourism golden route starting from cherry blossoms, so that the world can see the beauty of Jiangnan. It is reported that the Wuxi cultural and tourism delegation will go to Serbia for special negotiations to build a normalized cultural and tourism cooperation network between China and Europe.
